How do I pay and do you accept cards? (back to question list)

We require a deposit of 25% to confirm your booking with the balance due 4 weeks prior to your holiday.
Our preferred method of payment is by credit or debit card. We accept all major cards apart from Amex. To pay by card you can either telephone us personally or pay on-line when making your booking via our website.
Balance Payments can also be made on-line via the 'SagePay' link in your emailed Booking Confirmation.
We also accept BACS Bank Transfers and cheques which should be made payable to Clydey Cottages.

Are your cottages and facilities child friendly? (back to question list)
We are extremely child friendly here with 3 young children of our own. We have owned the Clydey site for over 8 years so Clydey in particular is very family and children focussed with 20 acres of grounds - plenty of room for children to run around and play in a safe environment, a children's indoor softplay room, outdoor play area with sandpit, swings, slide and ride-on toys. In the Games Room we have Table Tennis, Table Football, Air Hockey and Pool as well as a DVD and Book Library and Board Games. We have a daily animal feeding and egg collecting routine where children can help 'The Jolly Clydey Farmer' collect eggs from the resident chickens and help feed the sheep, pigs, lambs, donkeys, guinea pigs and two Shetland ponies.
The Fron Fawr site too has plenty of safe grounds - 48 acres in total of lawns, fields and woodland.
The Cottages themselves are all converted from farm buildings and barns but we can provide the additional modern day conveniences of full size wooden cots (not travel cots), high-chairs, stair-gates, baby monitors together with plastic crockery, cups and utensils.

Are your cottages and facilities disabled friendly? (back to question list)
We have just the one cottage at the Clydey site - Tansy Cottage, that has disabled access and all principal rooms are on the ground floor. The Leisure Building also has wheelchair friendly access.

Is there flexibility on arrivals days? (back to question list)
During the main holiday seasons, we only accept full weekly or fortnightly bookings. The usual changeover day is Friday at Clydey and Saturday at Fron Fawr. Out of the main holiday season, we are very flexible and will try to accommodate any start date and length of stay.

Are there good pubs and restaurants nearby? (back to question list)
Yes plenty, all of which are listed in the information folder contained within each cottage. The nearest pub to the Clydey site is The Nags Head which is 2.5 miles away and the nearest pub to the Fron Fawr site is The Boncath Inn which is just 1 mile away.

How far are you from the beach? (back to question list)
Clydey is 20 mins (10 miles) and Fron Fawr 10 mins (5 miles) from the nearest beach which is Poppit Sands in Cardigan Bay. There are numerous fantastic beaches within easy driving distances from both sites and many of these are listed within your Welcome/Information Folder within your cottage.

How far in advance can I book? (back to question list)
Up to two years in advance by telephoning us directly and one year in advance online via our website.

What are the charges for short-breaks? (back to question list)
Short breaks of minimum of 3 nights are available at 70% of the weekly cost, 4 nights at 80%, 5 nights at 90%. Small party discounts are also available outside of the main season and school holidays.

Can I book online? (back to question list)
Yes, you can submit a Booking Request via the Availability & Prices page. However, discounts and any seasonal promotions that we may offer from time to time cannot be applied online.

Is the swimming pool heated? (back to question list)
Yes, the water is heated to 30c and the air to 29c

Are the facilities available all year round?   (back to question list)
Yes. The Cottages and all facilities are open all year.

How far is the closest hospital and doctor?   (back to question list)
The West Wales General Hospital in Carmarthen is a 30 - 45 min drive and the nearest doctor is in Newcastle Emlyn, which is 10 mins. away.

Can you have groceries delivered? (back to question list)

Yes, you can pre-order your groceries via Tesco.com or a local farm shop and have them delivered directly to your cottage.

To order from Tesco: for those guests staying at Clydey, you need to use the post-code SA37 0LW on the tesco.com website and choose 'Penrallt' from the list of addresses, making sure you state the name of your cottage in the 'Delivery Instructions'.
For those guests staying at Fron Fawr, you need to use the post-code SA37 0HS on the tesco.com website and choose 'Fron Fawr' from the list of addresses, again ensuring you state the name of your cottage in the 'Delivery Instructions'.

Please, please ensure that you change the delivery address from your home address if you currently use Tesco.com. We have had two instances where guests have forgotten to do this and their shopping was being delivered to their home address whilst they were waiting for it in Wales!!

When booking, we will also send you details of local farm shops who will gladly deliver a hamper, groceries or freshly picked fruit and vegetables of your choice, directly to your cottage. We also have a local fishmonger who comes to the Clydey site every Wednesday morning to sell his freshly caught wares - delicious!

How far is the nearest town and supermarket? (back to question list)
The nearest town to Clydey is Newcastle Emlyn which is approx. 5-6 miles away. There is a small high street with local shops and two small supermarkets - CK's and Somerfield.
Cardigan is the nearest town to Fron Fawr (5 miles away) and is an historic market town with more shops and a Tesco supermarket, amongst others. For grocery essentials, there is a petrol station at Cenarth (4 miles from Clydey) with a NISA minimarket attached selling most grocery items.

Is take away food available nearby?   (back to question list)
Yes there is, details of which are contained in the cottage information folder. Both Newcastle Emlyn and Cardigan have Indian and Chinese Take-Aways and there is an excellent Fish and Chip Shop near Cardigan.

Are all cottages centrally heated?   (back to question list)
All cottages at Clydey and Glyndwr and Aneirin at Fron Fawr are fully centrally heated which is under the guests control. All other cottages at Fron Fawr have "night storage heaters".

Do you rent out DVD films?   (back to question list)
There is a free DVD and book library within the games room at Clydey from where you are welcome to borrow films. For a wider selection, the garage at Cenarth is able to provide temporary membership to hire films.

Are we able to re-cycle rubbish?   (back to question list)
Yes, we provide re-cycling bins at both Clydey and Fron Fawr.

What do we need to bring with us?   (back to question list)
Please see the 'What is included . . ' section.

Is there a shop on site ?   (back to question list)
We don't currently (watch this space!) have a shop on site. However, we do stock delicious frozen meals from the 'COOK' range of foods (including toddler/children's meals), baby food from 'So Baby' and also locally produced ice-cream from 'Mary's Farmhouse'. Guests are welcome to help themselves from the freezers in the Laundry Room (open 24hrs) and then settle your Account on departure. You will be sent a list of stocked meals with your final confirmation letter, and you can always telephone us and we will be happy to send you a copy.
